The Story

When they meet on the French Riviera, Elyot Chase and his ex-wife Amanda discover that the only force stronger than their hatred for each other, is their love for each other. Determined to get back together again, Elyot and Amanda have only one roadblock to overcome—both are honeymooning with their new spouses! Noel Coward’s dark comedy of love proves that while we might be able flee from the constraints of society, we can’t escape our own “private lives.” The elegant surroundings of Mayslake Hall provide the perfect setting for Noel Coward’s sophisticated wit, as Elyot and Amanda skewer hypocrisies and social conventions, and seek true love, regardless of the costs to their reputations.
